I am very thankful I have the opportunity to conduct Iron-Sharpened Leadership workshops and keynotes across the country and at times across the world.

Just last week I had the opportunity to conduct a two-day Iron-Sharpened Leadership and Resiliency workshop with my awesome training partner, SGT EJ Diaz at the National Public Safety Innovation Academy (NIA) run by the Polk County Florida Sheriff’s Office. The academy brought together over 30 senior #lawenforcement #leaders from across the nation to focus on the concepts of #servantleadership.

We conducted many exercises throughout the workshop that focused on character strengths and various leadership attributes.

The top five character strengths of this fantastic group of leaders were:

and Kindness

The five non-negotiables for being an effective leader this group of law enforcement leaders identified were:

and Courage

It bolsters my confidence in our current generation of law enforcement leaders when I see firsthand the character strengths and leadership attributes that make up these lists.

Let us make a commitment, as leaders, to continue to learn and grow, and focus on the character strengths and leadership attributes that place others ahead of ourselves.

As C.S. Lewis said, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself but rather it is thinking about yourself less”.
